Adele’s landscape work is best described as Contemporary Realism. Working only in oils, on large canvases, capturing a moment of light, adding detail to create atmosphere, making the viewer feel they are actually there. The moment is gone in an instant, but the image left on the canvas leaves us with a feeling of place and timelessness.Adele grew up on the Coromadel Coast and graduated with a Diploma in Graphic Design from ATI after which she worked as a designer in the Advertising and Publishing Industries. She lived and worked in Sydney for many years, returning to New Zealand in 2002, Adele began painting full time. Each new painting brings new challenges, representing the places visited and the impressions that they have left upon her. Always with the view of returning to these places, but excited about what is waiting around the next corner. While wishing to consolidate her present work, Adele is mindful that there are other directions and styles of art yet to discover.

COMMISSIONS
I very much enjoy doing commission work. More and more these days my clients find me through the internet the discussion is mostly done by email.
Making a painting is a creative process and can take time. We can be in contact to ensure we both know what is expected and the finished painting will be in keeping with my style of work. There is a waiting list and as I only use oils, the time is taken in building up the layers, drying time and the details. A commission also gives me the opportunity to meet new people look at other ideas.
When possible I like to meet a client at the location to discuss their ideas and have a good look around. This way I gain a sense of their feelings about the place, why it is special and what it means to them. We talk about how the place looks and feels at different times of the day, considering sun and shadows and the surrounding environment. I look at various aspects and angles and take lots of photographs of the subject and location. If a meeting is not possible I will consider using existing photos which can be scanned and emailed to me, and any other details including size, approximate price and time frame for completion etc.
